Tucson, AZ (October 18, 2024) On Thursday morning, a woman was hurt after a fiery traffic crash on Alvernon Way.

According to Tucson police, the horrific crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Alvernon Way.

Reports say that a car crash in midtown Tucson early Thursday morning caused a nearby apartment complex to catch fire.

Around 5:30 a.m., residents of the were startled by a loud boom.

Tucson Police reported that a vehicle crashed into a pole in the 1400 block of North Alvernon Way, leading to overhead power lines sparking a fire at the apartment complex.

Tucson Fire Department evacuated the building, and Atta was one of the first to help combat the flames.

An adult woman involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Tucson Fire extinguished the blaze, but the apartment was declared unsafe, forcing them to seek temporary accommodations with the help of the Red Cross.

The investigation is ongoing.
