1 Dead in East Hollywood Multi-Vehicle Accident on 101 Freeway and Alvarado Street

EAST HOLLYWOOD, CA (May 8, 2023) – Monday morning, a fiery 3-car wreck on 101 Freeway and Alvarado Street killed 1 person.

The incident occurred at around 4:00 a.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway at Alvarado Street.

According to reports, a wrong-way motorist traveled north in southbound lanes.

Then, the crash left two cars fully engulfed in flames. Moreover, firefighters had to free one trapped patient inside one of the burning vehicles by using hydraulic tools. Afterward, an ambulance transported the patient to a hospital in unknown condition.

Moreover, two patients with minor, non-life-threatening injuries refused hospitalization.

Responders declared one person dead at the scene. However, the authorities haven’t disclosed the ages and genders of the patients.

The crash led CHP to issue a SigAlert that closed all southbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway at Melrose Avenue. Then, they diverted the traffic off the road at Santa Monica Boulevard.
