Cajon Pass Fiery 2-Vehicle Crash Snarls Traffic
CAJON PASS, CA (November 15, 2019) — A fiery 2-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound 15 Freeway in Cajon Pass Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a big rig and another vehicle. The semi-truck apparently lost control and struck the vehicle north of Highway 138 at around 5:30 a.m.
As a result, both vehicles went over the side of the freeway. They ended up about 70 feet down an embankment, heavily damaging the guardrail.
One of the vehicles also caught fire. However, the San Bernardino County firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. Caltrans officials said no one was injured in the crash.
Meantime, drivers in the area experienced delays in traffic amid the road repairs. Crews worked to remove and replace the damaged section of guardrail, prompting authorities to close two right lanes indefinitely.
