Oxnard Men Killed after Crashing their Car into Sign Post on Highway 1 at Hueneme Road
OXNARD, CA (May 17, 2019) – Two men were killed after their car slammed into a sign post along Pacific Coast Highway Friday night in Oxnard.
The crash was first reported at 6:55 p.m. on the northbound side of Highway 1 at Hueneme Road.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, a 2003 Nissan 350 Z was heading northbound along PCH while approaching the Hueneme Road exit. For unknown reasons, it lost control and went onto the right shoulder where it collided with a metal guardrail and metal pole.
Paramedics pronounced the driver and passenger dead on scene.
The passenger, identified as 24-year-old Fernando Morales of Oxnard, was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Giovanni Corona, 23, also an Oxnard resident.
Authorities believe that speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
