1 Hospitalized after Phoenix Auto Accident near 51st Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (July 22, 2020) – Early Monday morning, a female passenger suffered serious injuries in a DUI crash near 51st Avenue.
Authorities arrested a 29-year-old driver on suspicion of impairment after the crash on 10 Freeway. The said incident led to the shut down of the lane near 51st Avenue for around six hours.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Safety added that the car collided with an attenuator. The attenuator controls traffic in the HOV lane leading to Loop 202. Afterward, the vehicle drove across all eight lanes of traffic and hit a cement shoulder on the right side of the freeway.
Officials confirmed that a female passenger sustained serious injuries at about 1:00 a.m. Moreover, public safety troopers detained the Phoenix male driver. Furthermore, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, criminal damage, and aggravated assault.
Midday Monday, the authorities reopened the westbound lanes on 10 Freeway.
