BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 24, 2022) – Wednesday night, a female passenger suffered injuries in a pursuit crash on Real Road and Palm Avenue.
 
At about 8:50 p.m., officers came to a grand theft report on a vehicle. This initial incident happened on Highway 99 near the California exit. When they arrived, they found a matching description and tried to stop the vehicle.
 
However, the driver escaped and caused officers to begin a pursuit heading northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 99. Then, officers had to suspend the pursuit due to safety concerns. However, the driver drove in the wrong direction on Highway 99 for the second time.
 
At about 8:58 p.m., the man struck a power pole on Real Road and Palm Avenue. Then, the pole fell on a resident’s yard/
 
The crash also trapped the driver and passenger inside the vehicle which had caught fire.
 
Eventually, responders extricated the male driver and female passenger. Then, authorities arrested the driver who suffered no injuries. Meanwhile, the passenger sustained a moderate leg injury.
 
Also, the crash affected 832 PG&E customers between Truxtun Avenue and Stockdale Highway.
 
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact BPD at (661) 327-7111.
