1 Hurt in Napa Pedestrian Accident on California Boulevard
NAPA, CA (December 19, 2019) – A person sustained injuries after a pedestrian accident on California Boulevard on December 16.
Authorities received reports a pedestrian crash around 3:30 p.m., on California Boulevard and Stadium Avenue. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to reports, a female driver struck an unidentified pedestrian. The driver then struck several objects before overturning into a building and catching fire.
Meanwhile, an off-duty Napa County/Cal Fire employee freed the female driver from her vehicle. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was later transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for further treatment.
Moreover, a Napa city firefighter freed a trapped dog from the vehicle that caught fire. They also provided the dog with oxygen through a Fido-Mask.
According to the police, the SUV traveled north on California Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Eventually, the driver lost control and struck a pedestrian. After the initial crash, the SUV struck the curb at Pueblo Avenue, then headed north on the shoulder and went back onto California Boulevard where it struck one parked vehicle. The driver then drove across the sidewalk and struck a telephone pole and tree. It then overturned until it hit a building 10 feet off the ground, and becoming engulfed in flames.
