Broadside Crash on East Colden Avenue in South Los Angeles Kills 1 and Badly Injures 2 Children
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 29, 2019) – A woman was killed following a broadside crash late Friday evening in the Green Meadows neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 800 block of East Colden Avenue, just east of McKinley Avenue.
According to the CHP, the woman was driving home with two children from a long fun day with family. For unknown reasons, an SUV broadsided her car, seriously injuring her nephew and grandchild.
The woman became trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s officials identified her as Felicita Lemus, 52, of Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, pramedics took the two children to a hospital in serious to critical condition. A 12-year-old boy sustained fractures to the face and is expected to undergo surgery. The other child, a 10-year-old, suffered bleeding in his brain, as well as liver and neck injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause and circumstances of the crash.
