1 Dead in Hemet Car Crash
HEMET, CA (March 16, 2020) – An unidentified person died following a single-car crash on Florida Avenue on March 7, in Hemet.
State officials currently suspects that the person involved possibly suffered a medical crisis before colliding with an electric box and a tree in a senior living community. While responders rushed the victim to a Murrieta hospital, the person succumbed to his injures.
Hemet Police responded at 5001 W. Florida Avenue upon reports of an elderly male who struck a house within the community. According to witnesses, the man was unconscious and locked inside his car. They also reported that his foot was on the gas pedal, leading the rear wheels of the car to spin.
When authorities arrived, they located a blue Ford SUV that hit a heavily-damaged electrical box and a palm tree. They also noticed that the rear wheels continued spinning.
The officials broke the driver’s side so they could free the unconscious man. They then turned off the car and extricated the man from the car.
Firefighters and paramedics administered CPR on the severely injured man. When medical personnel arrived, they continued CPR while in transit to an area hospital via an AMR. However, the man was pronounced dead in the accident.
The victim’s identity currently remains unreleased due to pending family notification. The Hemet PD is currently handling the investigation.
