HARRIS COUNTY, TX (October 26, 2024) – Thursday night, a fatal pedestrian crash on State Highway 249 near Bammel N Houston Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. on 14050 State Highway 249 near Bammel N Houston Road.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a northbound vehicle struck a female pedestrian who was crossing the roadway outside a marked crosswalk.

Responders rushed the woman to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not suspected of DWI.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office continued investigating the crash.
