Fatal Pedestrian Accident on North Jackson Avenue [San Jose, CA]

San Jose, CA (January 24, 2022) – On Saturday, a pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in an accident on North Jackson Avenue.

The accident happened at around 7:40 p.m. near Mather Drive.

Officer said a Toyota SUV struck the male pedestrian while he was walking across the street.  Immediately, the paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers withheld his identity pending notification of next of kin.

Moreover, the authorities said the SUV’s driver had the green light and the victim did not appear to be walking in a crosswalk when the crash happened.

This incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run, but it was clarified that the involved driver initially left the scene and called 911.

The driver went back to the scene and cooperated with the officers.
