Roads Closed after Clallam County Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101
CLALLAM COUNTY, WA (February 26, 2020) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash shut down both directions of Highway 101 on February 22.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Chelsea Hodgson revealed that the fatal multi-vehicle incident occurred at around 4:01 p.m. on Highway 101, located 2 miles east of Sequim.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area since they didn’t administer detours while crews worked at the scene. As a result, a backup miles long stretched in both directions.
At around 6:34 p.m., the roads reopened.
The cause of the crash remains unknown as of this time. Police revealed that a 38-year-old individual riding in a Subaru Impreza succumbed to collision injuries, while six other people were taken to a nearby hospital. According to authorities, six vehicles were involved in the crash.
The authorities are still investigating the accident.
Moreover, they suspect impairment on the driver who struck the first vehicle, as well as that car’s driver. The police believe that the third vehicle’s occupant didn’t suffer from impairment.
