Southbound 710 Freeway Lanes Closed after Car Crash near Pacific Coast Highway
LONG BEACH, CA (May 31, 2018) – A fatal multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 710 was reported by police officials, early Thursday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson, the accident took place around 4:30 AM, near the Pacific Coast Highway. An identified person was fatally injured in the collision, said to involve multiple vehicles.
A SigAlert was issued and all southbound lanes of the 710 were shut down for several hours between Willow Street and PCH, as stated by Caltrans. Traffic was backed up until at least Atlantic Boulevard. Northbound lanes did not seem to be impacted but the collision. All lanes were reopened around 9:00 AM.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal accident. No additional information has been disclosed at this time.
