Head-On Crash on Highway 152 Kills 27-Year-Old Man in Santa Clara County
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (September 20, 2019) — A 27-year-old man died in a head-on crash on Highway 152 near San Felipe Lake Wednesday morning.
Callers reported the accident at about 7:57 a.m. according to the California Highway Patrol. It involved a 2000 Ford and a 2014 Toyota.
The investigators said a 31-year-old Fresno man was driving the Ford westbound at about 60 mph. For inexplicable reasons, he crossed over the solid double yellow lines. The vehicle then collided head-on with the eastbound Toyota.
The man driving the Toyota died at the scene. His male passenger suffered major injuries. An ambulance took him to a hospital.
On the other hand, a medical helicopter transported the Ford driver to a hospital with major injuries.
Several witnesses and passersby stopped to assist following the crash. The wreckage blocked Highway 152 for about four hours.
The investigation continues. Whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash is still being determined. The investigators urge anyone with information to reach out to Officer Tritenbach at (408) 848-2324 or [email protected].
