1 Killed in Yosemite Car Crash on Highway 140
YOSEMITE, CA (December 12, 2019) – A man died in a car crash on Highway 140 on December 2 near Yosemite National Park.
According to officers, a man driving a 1991 Chevy SUV on Highway 140 near Crane Creek Road when he lost control of the car. His SUV went off the road and rode down a steep embankment.
The crash ejected the victim from the SUV that landed upside down, partially submerged in the Merced River.
Yosemite National Park employees and Mariposa County Search and Rescue team both came to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, it’s still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The officers confirmed that the road was wet during the incident. It’s also unknown whether the man wore a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
