One Dead, Three Hospitalized after Riverside Car Crash
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 30, 2019) – On Saturday evening, a man died and three others were injured in a fatal car accident on Van Buren Boulevard.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the accident happened around 8:48 PM. Dispatchers arrived near Arlington Avenue shortly after.
A man in is his 50s was driving a white Dodge pickup truck, when he suffered a medical emergency. He consequently sped through a red light and crashed into a Ford Focus. In addition, the impact sheared off a fire hydrant and came to rest on a telephone pole.
The Riverside Fire Department pronounced the pickup truck driver dead on scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public.
A 55-year-old female passenger inside the pickup truck sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. She was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. The occupants inside the Ford, a woman in her 50s and a 16-year-old girl, were transported to separate hospitals in critical condition.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
