Boris Sarsania, Jose Delos Reyes Cortez, and Ruth G. Cortez Killed in Crash
OCEANSIDE, CA (December 25, 2017) – A deadly crash on the Interstate 5 Near State Route 76 Exit, killed three people and injured one. Deceased victims included Boris Sarsania, Jose Delos Reyes Cortez, and Ruth G. Cortez.
California Highway Patrol reported this incident around 5:20 PM, on Christmas day.
An Escondido man, 52-year old Sarsania was driving down Interstate 5 in his 1996 Nissan sedan in Oceanside. When he attempted to exit State Route 76, he suddenly veered back into freeway lanes, hitting a concrete barrier and several barrels lining the road. The car became airborne and landed on right shoulder, where it then caught on fire.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said that he died from blunt force injuries and burns.
A 2016 Nissan Sentra driven by 65-year-old National City woman, Cherry Nunez, rear ended the sedan. Passengers, Paradise Valley Cortez couple, both 80 years old, died at the scene. Nunez sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Memorial Hospital hospital with moderate injuries. She was reported to be stable the following day.
