29-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed by Pickup near Tarawa Road

 
CORONADO, CA (June 15, 2018) – A woman was killed in an accident on State Route 75, early Friday morning. Her identity was not immediately released.
 
According to Coronado Police Department Capt Jesus Ochoa, the fatal pedestrian collision took place around 12:30 AM, near the Naval Amphibious Base and Tarawa Road.
 
Witnesses stated that the 29-year-old woman and her boyfriend were arguing and pulled over next to the bike path on the northbound lanes of Silver Strand Boulevard (SR 75). She exiting from the passenger side and was walking backward across the street, when struck by an oncoming pickup truck.
 
Emergency responders pronounced her dead on the scene. Northbound and southbound lanes were closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and interviews. The northbound lanes reopened around 5:00 AM, and the southbound lanes about an hour later.
 
Officials continue to investigate the fatal collision, but do not believe that alcohol was a contributing factor. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
