Four Injured and Jose Mendoza Arrested after Two Vehicles Collide near 3rd Street
FRESNO, CA (May 23, 2019) – A family of four were hospitalized early Thursday evening following a rollover crash on Iowa Avenue.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the victims’ vehicle collided with a Lexus near 3rd Street, shortly after 5:00 PM. The impact of the crash caused the victims’ vehicle to overturn.
Emergency responders transported two women and two children to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Meanwhile, the Lexus driver, identified as Jose Mendoza, did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
Authorities later found and arrested Mendoza. He faces multiple felony charges including hit-and-run, DUI, and child endangerment. As per reports, there were two uninjured children inside Mendoza’s vehicle.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the collision. Additional details will be released once they become available.
