46-Year-Old Temecula Motorist Fatally Struck by Box Truck near Mission Road
FALLBROOK, CA (November 19, 2018) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash on 15 Freeway, late Monday afternoon. The deceased victim was only identified as a 46-year-old Temecula man. His name was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place around 4:40 PM, just south of Mission Road.
As per reports, the man was splitting lanes or riding between slower-moving traffic when he lost control of his 2003 Yamaha sports motorcycle and crashed. Due to the impact of the collision, the motorcyclist was ejected from his bike onto the pavement, where he was run over by a 10-wheeler box truck.
The truck stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway and called for help. Bystanders also stopped and administered first aid to the rider until emergency units arrived. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on route to Palomar Hospital.
Three lanes of the freeway were shut down until about 5:30 PM, as cleanup and investigation took place. No further details on the fatal accident have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation is ongoing at this time.
