Ezekiel Flores Dead, Jerry Hughes Injured in McFarland Accident
MCFARLAND, CA (February 19, 2019) – A man was killed following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in McFarland.
The fatal crash happened a little after 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Wasco-Pond Road and Garces Highway.
According to the CHP, a white 2008 Chevrolet Allision Duramaz, driven by Jerry Hughes, was traveling northbound on Wasco-Pond Road. Soon after, it crossed at Garces Highway and failed to yield at the intersection. The Chevrolet then struck a red 1996 Nissan pickup truck.
The man driving the Nissan, identified as 41-year-old Ezekiel Lara Flores of Delano, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hughes suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center.
Authorities did not rule out drugs and/or alcohol as factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
