Ezekial Avendano Lopez Arrested after Brutal Crash on Riverwalk Parkway [Riverside, CA]

1 Person Killed in Riverside Auto Accident on Riverwalk Parkway and Collett Avenue

RIVERSIDE, CA (October 30, 2024) – Last week, authorities arrested Ezekial Avendano Lopez after a brutal crash on Riverwalk Parkway.

Reports indicate that Lopez, 62, was under investigation by Fontana detectives on Oct. 24 when he deliberately rammed an unmarked police vehicle and fled the scene. The reason for the initial investigation was not disclosed.

After losing track of Lopez, detectives later located his white Nissan Maxima involved in a multi-vehicle crash at Riverwalk Parkway and Collett Avenue in the La Sierra neighborhood. Riverside Police received reports of the crash around 2:30 p.m., but the exact number of vehicles involved was not specified.

Lopez sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while his 49-year-old female passenger was also hospitalized but later died. Her identity has not been released. Three others from other vehicles involved in the collision had minor injuries.

Following his medical release, Lopez was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon against the Fontana detective. He is being held on $1 million bail, with further charges related to the fatal crash pending.
