1 Dead in Twentynine Palms Hit-and-Run Accident on Interstate 10 and State Route 62

 
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA (December 28, 2022) – Sunday night, Everardo Calvillo Jr died in a rollover crash on Interstate 10 and State Route 62.
 
The incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 10, west of State Route 62.
 
After the crash, 32-year-old driver, Everardo Calvillo Jr. of Twentynine Palms, died at the scene.
 
According to reports, a tractor-trailer traveled east on Interstate 10. Then, the driver made an unsafe lane change into the path of a Toyota Camry.
 
Then, the Camry driver veered out of the way, lost control, and went off the south end of the road. Eventually, the vehicle overturned.
 
“It looks like it was a no-contact,” Montez told City News Service. “They did not collide and the driver of the big rig fled the scene.”
 
The crash ejected a year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl, and Calvillo from the vehicle.
 
As a result, the 15-year-old girl and the baby sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile, the 14-year-old girl suffered serious injuries.
 
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old female passenger from the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
 
Officers confirmed that no one in the vehicle was properly restrained.
 
Moreover, the driver of the tractor-trailer escaped the crash scene.
 
Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information on the driver’s identity or the tractor-trailer to contact the CHP – San Gorgonio Pass office at (951) 769-2000. They can also directly turn to the investigating officer, Officer K. Campbell, or Officer J. Montez.
