Driver Killed in Spirit Lake Highway Crash Identified
SILVER LAKE, WA (August 20, 2019) – Authorities identified 66-year-old Eva Ammons of Toutle as the driver killed in a crash on Spirit Lake Memorial Highway, Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near Castle Rock, at about 3:30 PM. Due to unknown reasons, an eastbound black 2001 Ford Explorer drifted onto the shoulder near milepost 7. Then, the vehicle slammed into the rear of a parked flatbed trailer.
Unfortunately, Ammons succumbed to her injuries before the arrival of Lifeflight. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. They encourage witnesses to cooperate with the investigation as soon as possible. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
