Knights Ferry, CA (April 30, 2021) – On Friday, a fatality was reported in a big rig versus a sedan head-on crash on Highway 108.

The deadly crash occurred at around 6:10 a.m. east of Lancaster Road, in the area known as Lover’s Leap.

Authorities closed Highway 108/120 near Kennedy Road as they cleared the wreckage. They said it is unclear when the highway will reopen.

Meanwhile, traffic backed up in the area, Caltrans arrived to assist in the crash scene.

Later reports disclosed that the decedent, Turlock woman Norma Garcia, drifted her Volkswagen sedan into the eastbound lanes of Highway 108, directly into the path of Eusebio Ponce’s box truck.

Thus, the two vehicles collided head on.

Consequently, paramedics pronounced Ms. Garcia dead, while they transported Eusebio Ponce, of Santa Clara, to a hospital.
