58-Year-Old Alameda County Employee Fatally Struck by Suspected Street Racer at Arrowhead Way
HAYWARD, CA (July 9, 2018) – A woman was killed Monday evening after she was struck by a vehicle suspected to be involved in street racing on Mission Boulevard. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau later identified the deceased victim as 58-year-old Esther Concepcion of Hayward.
As per reports, the deadly collision occurred at 8:26 PM, at Arrowhead Way. Concepcion was crossing Mission Boulevard in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a northbound Camaro.
She sustained major injuries and was rushed to the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where she was later pronounced dead. The Camaro driver, 21-year-old Eduardo Cabrera of Hayward, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was arrested for reckless driving but was later released, pending further investigation.
Investigators suspect that Cabrera was involved in a street race at the time of the deadly crash. An investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to call Sgt Wagner at (510) 293-7121. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
