1 Person Killed in Sacramento DUI Accident on Highway 99 and Mingo Road
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 20, 2021) – Sunday morning, Estevan Mora was arrested after a deadly crash on Highway 99 and Mingo Road.
The initial crash happened at about 5:15 a.m. when a car crashed into the center median. The incident happened on southbound Highway 99 and south of Mingo Road.
When the officers arrived, they found out that three separate crashes happened in the same sport. One of them was a vehicle versus a pedestrian.
25-year-old Estevan Mora caused the initial crash when he drove a 2005 Ford Mustang. Then, he made “an unsafe turning movement” and crashed into the center median wall while heading south on Hwy 99. As a result, debris fell into the northbound lanes.
After a few minutes, a 63-year-old woman driving a Toyota Corolla on northbound Highway 99 struck some of the metal debris. Then, she stopped at a stop sign on the right shoulder.
Meanwhile, a 65-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Malibu struck some of the debris shortly after that and stopped her car behind the Corolla. She exited her car and talked to the Corolla driver about what happened.
However, as she walked back to her car, a 43-year-old man driving a Toyota Camry approached. As he traveled in the northbound Highway 99 lanes, he saw the debris and veered to avoid it. Unfortunately, he lost control of the vehicle and struck the woman walking back to the vehicle.
As a result, the woman died at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested Estevan Mora after a DUI investigation was performed. The authorities booked him into the Sacramento County Jail for suspicion of DUI.
Also, the Camry driver who hit the woman cooperated with officers and was later released.
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the victim.
