Phoenix, AZ (May 14, 2023) – Sunday morning, 20-year-old Essence Burnes died, and two others sustained injuries in a 2-car crash on 19th and Glendale Avenues.

The fatal crash on 19th and Glendale Avenues in Phoenix happened around 6:30 a.m. on May 14.

Phoenix police said Burnes was crossing 19th Avenue when she was struck by a car on Glendale Avenue.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her passenger and the driver of the other car were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the accident, and police are investigating to determine who ran the red light.

Further investigation into this crash is ongoing.
