25-Year-Old Esmerelda Reyes Hospitalized in DUI Crash on S Main Street [Warden, WA]

Warden, WA (February 23, 2024) –  25-year-old Esmerelda Reyes incurred serious injuries following a DUI crash on S Main Street on Wednesday.

It was about 9:45 p.m. when the traffic accident unfolded at the intersection with West Sixth Street.

Investigators said a southbound 2007 Chevrolet pickup driven by 28-year-old Humberto Martinez Aguilar did not stop at the T-intersection. The vehicle continued through the intersection, crashed onto a curb, and into a cinder block retaining wall. The pickup rested up atop the wall.

Officers said Aguilar who was wearing his seat belt during the accident sustained minor injuries. 

However, Reyes, Aguilar’s passenger, was not wearing her seat belt. She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The medical rescuers rushed both Aguilar and Reyes to Samaritan Healthcare.

Officers believe drug and/or alcohol impairment on the part of Aguilar played a significant role in the accident. WSP authorities arrested Aguilar for DUI and highlighted the severe consequences of driving under the influence.
