Esmeralda Valencia Dead, Anthony Valencia Seriously Injured in Dos Palos Hit-and-Run Crash

 
DOS PALOS, CA (August 4, 2019) – A woman died following a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening in a Merced County.
 
The woman has been identified as Esmeralda Valencia, 38, of Dos Palos. She was a passenger in a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250cc motorcycle, operated by 41-year-old Anthony Lee Valencia , also a Dos Palos resident.
 
The two were riding northbound on Arroya Avenue, when a black Honda car traveling westbound on Linden Road went through the intersection, going in front of their bike, causing the collision around 9:15 p.m.
 
Arriving units pronounced Esmeralda dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Anthony to a hospital with major leg injuries.
 
The driver in the Honda fled the scene. Both the suspect and vehicle were still outstanding as of Tuesday morning, the CHP said.
