San Jose Woman Esmeralda Carrillo Bejar Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101
SAN JOSE, CA (March 3, 2021) – Tuesday morning, Esmeralda Carrillo Bejar died in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 101 and Alum Rock Avenue.
The incident occurred at around 8:05 a.m. on northbound Highway 101, south of Alum Rock Avenue Exit.
Officer Ross Lee of the California Highway Patrol revealed that a motorcycle officer immediately arrived at the scene. The officer located a tow truck and a sedan that had caught fire on the right shoulder.
Then, a third vehicle was on the shoulder ahead of the tow truck and sedan. Moreover, the four vehicles were still on Highway 101.
As a result, officers and bystanders attempted to free the 45-year-old female driver from the sedan. However, the fire was too intense.
At this time, the crash remains under active investigation.
Meanwhile, authorities shut down two right lanes of Highway 101 and issued a SigAlert until 12:40 p.m.
