Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Birdsong Drive in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (March 25, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Monday night, in a crash at West Lilac Road. His name has not yet been released.
The collision happened around 6:18 p.m., at the intersection of West Lilac Road and Birdsong Drive. First responders arrived to the area shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls about the accident.
CHP officials said the involved motorcycle was identified as a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja. The male rider was allegedly traveling east on West Lilac Road when he overturned while attempting to maneuver a curve. The impact consequently ejected him.
Crews from a nearby fire station were quickly called on scene due to needed medical assistance. However, the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was only identified as a 28-year-old Escondido man. His name has been withheld pending next of kin notification.
Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash. CHP officers are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The eastbound lane of West Lilac Road was closed until around 9:20 p.m., and eventually reopened. No further details about the circumstances of the incident have been disclosed.
