33-Year-Old La Quinta Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Crash at Avenue 53

 
LA QUINTA, CA (April 13, 2018) – A fatal motorcycle-car accident took place on Jefferson Street, just south of Avenue 52, on Friday afternoon. The victim was identified on Saturday as 33-year-old Ernesto Magallon of La Quinta.
 
According to reports, Magallon was traveling northbound on Jefferson on a motorcycle around 3:14 PM, when he crashed into a truck. Cal Fire and emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident to find the injured motorcyclist in the road.
 
He was treated on site before being airlifted to a local hospital with critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, Magallon succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical professionals, around three hours later. April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department stated that no other injuries were reported in the collision.
 
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies were already in the area due to heavy traffic because of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club in the Indio, and responded to the scene shortly after the accident.
