Turlock Woman Erika Navarro Killed, Jorge Cardenas Suspect in Modesto DUI Crash
Modesto, CA (June 25, 2021) – On Thursday, a passenger named Erika Navarro, 33, died in Oakdale Road DUI crash.
The fatal accident took place at about 2:30 a.m. north of Scenic Drive, wherein a truck and a car were involved.
Apparently, the driver, Jorge Cardenas, was speeding northbound on Oakdale Road when he lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes.
As a result, the car hit a pickup truck.
Unfortunately, the female passenger, Ms. Navarro of Turlock, died at the scene.
On the other hand, Cardenas, of Turlock, was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, the truck driver sustained minor injures.
Moreover, police believe the 30-year-old man drove under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Authorities say while Jorge Cardenas remains hospitalized, he will be placed under arrest for homicide, DUI, and vehicular homicide.
