26-Year-Old Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by SUV on Filbert Avenue
FONTANA, CA (June 18, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Juniper Avenue, early Monday afternoon. He was identified on Tuesday by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office as 26-year-old Erick Escamilla of Ontario.
The fatal collision took place at the intersection of Juniper and Filbert Avenues, just after noon.
Escamilla was riding on his motorcycle when he was struck by an SUV, driven by a 29-year-old Fontana woman. Police officials and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the man on the group with significant head and chest trauma. He was rushed to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at 4:13 PM.
The SUV driver was uninjured in the collision. Additional details on the events leading up to the accident were not immediately released to the public, as Fontana Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
