Erica Faith Truman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 20, 2018) – A 15-year-old teen was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident on the intersection of N. Chester Avenue and Decatur Street on Saturday night around 9:30 PM.
The young victim was identified by the Kern Country Coroner on Monday as Erica Faith Truman. According to the California Highway Patrol, she was in the crosswalk but running against a red light, when hit by a silver Ford Ranger. The driver had the green light, but failed to stop after hitting Truman and fled from the scene.
Investigations continued by police, until they arrested a man on Sunday morning. Herbert Mallory Jr. was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
