35-Year-Old Oakland Man Dies in Crash on Highway 4 at Port Chicago Highway
CONCORD, CA (June 9, 2019) – A man was killed following a two-car crash Sunday evening on Highway 4 in Concord.
The accident happened around 8:27 p.m., along the westbound lanes of Highway 4. Dispatchers arrived near Port Chicago Highway shortly after.
Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, it was determined that a blue BMW M3 and a silver Toyota Camry collided. However, the events leading up are currently unclear.
Moreover, the impact allegedly sent the BMW off the roadway before plummeting down the railroad tracks on Kinne Boulevard.
The driver of the BMW was later identified as 35-year-old Eric Vaughn of Oakland. He was eventually ejected from the vehicle and found a distance away from the car.
Vaughn was later pronounced dead on scene due to the impact of the collision.
Furthermore, the driver of the Camry remained on scene and cooperated with officials. Reports also say the Camry driver was uninjured.
It is currently unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The investigation still remains ongoing at this time.
