1 Dead in Shafter Multi-Vehicle Accident on Zerker Road and 7th Standard Road

SHAFTER, CA (February 28, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Eric Hoffman, 74, died in a brutal multi-vehicle crash on Zerker Road and 7th Standard Road.

The incident involving four vehicles happened at about 6:50 a.m. on Zerker Road, one mile north of 7th Standard Road.

When officers arrived, they located 74-year-old Hoffman from Bakersfield who had died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, responders took two other people with minor to moderate injuries to a hospital for treatment.

Shafter police added that alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Also, the crash led to the closure of Zerker Road at 7th Standard Road and the Garlic Company intersection.

Thus, the police urged morning commuters to find an alternate route when traveling.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Shafter Police Department Detective Kinkade at (661) 746-8500.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
