18-Year-Old Worker Trapped, Killed by Heavy Equipment at Aardvark Clay and Supplies
SANTA ANA, CA (September 20, 2018) – An employee was killed late Thursday mornin,g following a machinery accident at Aardvark Clay and Supplies. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Enrique Garcia-Vazques, a resident of Tustin.
According to officials with the Orange County Fire Authority, the incident happened shortly after 11:00 AM in the 1400 block of East Pomona Street. A co-worker found the victim entangled in clay-mixing heavy equipment a few minutes after the accident occurred.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to extricate Garcia-Vazques from the equipment. Unfortunately, the worker sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. An in-depth investigation will be handled by The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health to determine the cause of the accident and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
