Late Evening Collision with Train in Empire Ends in Fatality
EMPIRE, CA (December 28, 2018) – At least one person was killed following a train accident late Friday evening in Empire.
The fatal incident happened around 10:50 p.m. on Highway 132 at Santa Fe Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge pickup truck collided with the train for unknown reasons. When officers arrived, the pickup truck was abandoned with major front-end damage.
At least one fatality was found as a result of the accident. The name of the victim was not immediately available pending positive identification and notification of family members.
At this time, authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the factors involved and liability.
