EMERYVILLE, CA – One Killed in Rollover Crash on 80 Freeway at Powell Street

Car Falls from Overpass in Emeryville Leaving One Person Dead

EMERYVILLE, CA (November 22, 2018) – One person was killed following a rollover crash Thursday morning in Emeryville, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal crash happened a little after 7:00 a.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway, just West of Powell Street off-ramp.

CHP officials said a car was traveling eastbound on the freeway when for unknown reasons, it lost control, fell from the overpass above the freeway and overturned. Tragically, one fatality was found as a result of the accident.

The crash prompted officials to issue a SigAlert in the area, closing all freeway lanes for unknown duration. All lanes were re-opened roughly around 11:38 a.m.

Due to several factors remained unclear, investigation is ongoing.
