Distracted driving can be defined as anything that takes your attention away from driving, including talking or texting on your phone, eating, drinking, talking to people in your vehicle, fiddling with the stereo, entertainment system, or navigation system – any activity that distracts you from driving safely.
There is no doubt that texting is one of the most alarming distractions. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds.
You cannot drive safely unless you use your full attention. Any non-driving activity you do is a potential distraction and increases your risk of crashing.
