Passengers Emelita Hedden and Elvin Heggen Killed in Interstate 40 Collision [Oldham County, TX]

Oldham County, TX (July 9, 2024) – Passengers Emelita Hedden and Elvin Heggen were killed in an Interstate 40 collision Sunday afternoon.

It was about 2:20 p.m. when the fatal crash happened approximately eight miles west of Adrian.

Troopers said a 2023 Volvo big rig towing a trailer was westbound on the freeway while a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was eastbound.

The big rig drove across the inside lane through the center median and drove into the eastbound lanes.

The Chrysler driver was not able to avoid the big rig and struck the trailer’s rear axle.

51-year-old Candice Davis of Mustang, Oklahoma, who was driving the Chrysler, was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in the Chrysler, 23-year-old Mckenna Davis, also of Mustang, Oklahoma, and 70-year-old Mark Hedden, were rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.

Moreover, two adult passengers in the Chrysler, Emelita Hedden and Elvin Heggen, were killed at the crash scene. 

The Volvo truck’s driver and passenger in were not hurt in the collision.
