Elyse Pickart of Arcata Injured in Pescadero Creek Road Fatal DUI Crash [Pescadero, CA]

Pescadero, CA (October 14, 2023) –  22-year-old Elyse Pickart of Arcata sustained injuries in a Pescadero Creek Road fatal DUI crash Thursday night.

Officers responded to the crash scene around 9:55 p.m. east of State Route 1.

The authorities from the California Highway Patrol Redwood City said 22-year-old Madeline St. Pierre of Aracata was driving a white Kia westbound on Pescadero Creek Road. She failed to stop at the intersection and drove through it towards the ocean.

St. Pierre drove off the cliff and fell approximately 100 feet with two passengers, one of whom was Elyse Pickart.

The other passenger, a Watsonville man, was seated at the right-hand side in the back. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:20 p.m. 

St. Pierre incurred major injuries and was transported to Stanford Medical Center. The authorities arrested and charged with one count of vehicular manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence causing injuries to any person.

Pickart who was seated up front with St. Pierre was rushed to the hospital as a precaution.

Investigators said the car landed on its wheels at the beach but due to high tide, the car was partially in the water.

Investigators believe alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the collision. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Officer A. Lopez at (650) 779-2700.
