Juvenile Injured in Fatal Pursuit Crash on Main Avenue
Sacramento, CA (July 16, 2022) – On Friday evening, 16-year-old Elvis Umanzor died while another male juvenile sustained injuries in a vehicle chase collision on Norwood Avenue.
It was about 8:50 p.m. when the officers tried to pull their vehicle near 65th Street and 14th Avenue for violating a vehicle code.
However, Elvis Umanzor, the driver didn’t stop. A chase started which lasted for about three. The officers pulled away from continuing to pursue the vehicle.
Later on, an officer spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over. The driver did not stop and the officers started another pursuit.
Unfortunately, Elvis Umanzor crashed near Norwood Avenue and Main Avenue. Officers say his driving speed reached 115 mph during the pursuit.
“The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to our officers. They were weaving in and out of traffic, driving very erratically and creating a danger to the public, so that’s why they initiated this pursuit,” an officer says.
Elvis Umanzor lost his life in the collision while his passenger sustained unknown injuries.
In the meantime, officers are looking if the two juveniles threw something from the vehicle within the city’s jurisdiction during the chase before the vehicle crashed.
Officers are still investigating the fatal police pursuit crash on Main Avenue.
