Eliseo Saldana Dead, Daniel Lemus Arrested in Reedley Car Accident
REEDLEY, CA (October 6, 2019) – An 8-year-old child identified as Eliseo Saldana died in a car accident around 5:25 p.m. on Friday, October 4.
According to CHP spokesman Mike Sala, 21-year-old Daniel Lemus failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of South Avenue and Alta Avenue.
Lemus’ vehicle then struck a sedan moving northbound on Alta Avenue, which has no stop signs.
Reedley Firemen’s Association said that two people in the sedan were able to get out with the help of bystanders. The child was pulled from the car, they added.
Bystanders tried to CPR the child before paramedics arrived and rushed all three to Adventist Medical Center in Reedley. Officials determined that the child died on impact, Salas stated.
Lemus did not sustain any injuries. They arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving unlicensed.
During this time of tragedy, we would like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Eliseo Saldana. We hope they find strength and comfort as they grieve over their loss.
