Christopher Butler and Eliseo Dumalo Injured in Spokane Multi-Vehicle Crash
Spokane, WA (May 27, 2021) – On Tuesday, 47-year-old Eliseo Dumalo of Cheney, and 43-year-old Christopher Butler were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 90.
The accident took place at about 5 p.m., wherein eight vehicles were involved.
Camilla Zachary, 33-year-old from Spokane on her Ford Explorer was eastbound on Interstate 90. She struck the median and pushed the barrier into westbound traffic.
Zachary had four children in her vehicle ranging from 2 to 12 years old at the time of the accident.
A Honda Accord drifted to get out of the way of the barrier . However, it still struck the concrete, as did a GMC Sierra. Then, the Honda also struck a Buick.
Furthermore, a GMC Canyon struck another GMC that already struck the barrier.
Additionally, a GMC Sierra hit the barrier, followed by a Dodge Ram and a Honda Civic that hit debris.
Zachary was not injured in the accident. However, officers cited her on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, wheels over the center line and a seat belt violation. Court records indicated Zachary’s prior criminal history in Spokane is limited to a speeding ticket in January.
People Injured in Eight-Vehicle Crash
Moreover, rescuers took the 2-year-old boy in Zachary’s vehicle to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. The other children in her car were not injured in the incident.
Dumalo, the Honda Accord driver of the Honda Accord, was injured in the accident and taken to the hospital.
Butler, driver of the first GMC Sierra, was also injured.
Reports said the the drivers of the last five vehicles were not injured in the accident.
Meanwhile, none of the cars were totaled but five sustained reportable damage.
Officers added that one person was injured critically, though it wasn’t clear who that was.
Since you cannot read the intention of the driver in front of you, don’t tailgate. Maintain some distance between your vehicle and the one ahead in order to give yourself enough response time should the vehicle ahead make a sudden turn or stop.
