2 Children Dead in Gilroy Traffic Accident on Highway 152 near Lake Road

GILROY, CA (January 14, 2024) – Friday morning, a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Highway 152 near Lake Road kills two people.

The accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. on Highway 152, just west of Lake Road.

According to CHP Officer Alfredo Uribe, a westbound Tesla struck an eastbound 2018 Honda after attempting to pass a Peterbilt big rig but by using the eastbound lanes. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Tesla to collide head-on with a 2017 Dodge which in turn struck the big rig. Also, the Tesla continued traveling and spun out of control before crashing with a 2020 Subaru.

Moreover, responders pronounced a 7-year-old female passenger of the Dodge, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported a 4-year-old girl to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Also, authorities confirmed that three occupants of the Honda and the driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Furthermore, authorities confirmed that no drivers were arrested or cited as of this moment.

The victims were identified as Morgan Hill sisters Valentina Ornelas and Elisa Ornelas. A GoFundMe has been set up, in which you can donate to help expense their memorial costs.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
