Eliodoro Arellano Killed While Crossing Highway 180
Fresno, CA (July 28, 2020) – On Monday night, 37-year-old Eliodoro Arellano from Fresno died while crossing Highway 180.
The fatal incident happened near Clovis Avenue as the victim was trying to flee the sheriff’s deputies.
Arellano and 2 other people were dismantling an SUV near Minnewawa and Turner avenues when a police officer arrived. He then fled through a hole in the fence leading to the freeway.
The CHP said he tried to run north across Highway 180. Just then, a 23-year-old woman driving east on the freeway in a Nissan Sentra struck him.
Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities closed Eastbound Highway 180 for about one hour while the investigation is done. Also, two other people detained by the deputies were later released.
