1 Dead in Beaumont Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 10 near College Street
BEAUMONT, TX (August 4, 2024) – Friday afternoon, Elijah Ozuna died in a horrific 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near College Street.
The incident happened just before 5:00 p.m. on Interstate 10 westbound near the College Street exit.
According to reports, a silver Chevy Malibu rear-ended an 18-wheeler. Then, the driver of the car, 35-year-old Ozuna of Houston, died in the crash. Also, an autopsy was ordered.
Moreover, responders transported two other passengers to the hospital.
Witnesses said the Malibu was speeding when it clipped a vehicle before rear-ending an 18-wheeler, said Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley.
A third vehicle was sideswiped, but no one was injured. The driver of the 18-wheeler was also unharmed. All southbound lanes of IH-10 at College Street are closed, and traffic is being rerouted to the feeder road for about another hour.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
